SHABBA!

Marketing Magazine have just bumped us up two places in their Top 30 agencies issue. We've leapfrogged twice from 29 to 27 in their annual review. Congratulations ladies and gentlemen for working gut-bustingly hard this year.

BMWooooh!

Our Nick has only gone and won a BMW photo competition!
Not only that it was photo of the week on pistonheads.com!
We're also reliably informed it's going to be shot of the decade in next month's Woman's Own. Using a Casio (shameless client plug) camera he snapped his 'precious' one morning on the way to work.
Doesn't Attercliffe Road look good this early in the morning?

LUCKY CHAIR.

Lucky chair has been at it again.
Both Nic and Tim are to become The Daddy.
It's Tim's first and Nic's nineteenth.
Congratulations and all our love go to the boys, their families and their brand new tic tacs.

LIGHTS! CAMERA! ATTERCLIFFE ROAD!

We are thrilled to be doing our first job with Screen Yorkshire.

We have been asked to design and produce a new corporate brochure for the Leeds based organisation.

The project aims to encourage the entertainment industry both nationally and internationally to come to the region and use Yorkshire for location crews and facilities for forthcoming film and television work.

Annnnnd cut.

FIRST WITH HONOURS.

Following a 3 way pitch, we were appointed by the University of Sheffield to assist them with a campaign to promote their local outreach programme in the area.

The campaign is set to encourage public awareness of their work within schools and local communities and should, in turn, encourage the next generation of students.

The 48 sheet 6 sheet and press ads entitled DREAM BIGGER DREAMS ran in the Sheffield areas throughout the autumn. The cinema and radio commercials will be aired during the winter.

Well done Rob. Ten out of Ten. Gold Star. First with honours with extra honours. Throw your hat up in the air!!!!

AVATAR VERY MUCH.

Our first creative venture with Casio is based around their M100 timepiece project; a tie in with James Cameron’s highly anticipated and much hyped £330million 3d blockbuster movie “Avatar”.

A little known fact is that most of the film was shot here at Royds Mill. We’d often see James and his crew ordering lasagne from Masterchef just down the road.

Much to our surprise they weren't shooting SMURFS, THE RETURN.

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE.

With the sound of Uber.

As part of our annual fundraising we have taken part in a number of events for our chosen charity, The Lainey K Charity.

Up hill and down dale. Hiking up Yorkshire 3 peaks and Mam Tor. Up glass and down wine. Hosting a cheese and wine evening. Uber Ebay clothes sale. Baking cakes cakey bakey week.

These activities are to raise money for a very worthwhile cause The lainey K Foundation which gives financial aid to families affected by cancer at Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield.

I SAID TARDY!

Uber would like to apologise for the loss of service for a wee while. We’ve been super busy pitching and pitching with some pitches in between.

Normal service is resumed...for now.

ALWAYS WORTH A NOSEY.

FOO TANG CLAN.

Convenience food company Greencore have appointed us to create a new identity for it's recently acquired food-to-go brand Foo Go.

Uber Account Director Al Baker said: " Having the chance to re-brand what could be potentially one of the UK's largest selling 'food on the move' products is a great challenge for our creative and design team."

Not that any of us were looking when he said it as he had a mouthful of King Prawn and Rocket sandwich.

Eughh...Dirty boy.

ALWAYS WORTH A NOSEY.

NIC JOINS.

A warm Uber welcome to our newest member of staff Nic Jones.
Nic has joined us from McCann Erickson Manchester as Head of Digital and will bring a wealth of experience to our digital offering.
Nic promises not to spend his days sending us all pictures of cats with melons on their heads.....At least for the first week.

SWEET DREAMS.

Proof if proof be needed. Don't eat a cheese sarnie before going to bed.

KNEEL BEFORE ZOD.

There's only one thing better than getting a great big telly...
...And that's getting proposed to!
We must have a lucky seat in here somewhere because it's only gone and happened again.
Ali got down on one knee and proposed to our Katy last week. Well done that man. Love and congratulations to you both from all at Uber.

EVERYBODY WANG CHUNG TONIGHT!

Okay, okay, so maybe, for some designers, it DOES actually get better than Harry Hill demonstrating your design on national television.
Yes Ricky, it WOULD be mildly inappropriate to have Alexa Chung as your screensaver.

TV BURP...COUGH!..SPLUTTER!

For any designer or agency worth their salt there are many awards out there to lust after during a career.

But we strongly suspect they'd all swap those shiny wage hiking nuggets in an instant for the glowing recommendation bestowed upon our Ricky and his back up team of Amy, Mick, Rich and Kay this Sunday night by none other than the guvnor of Saturday night television.

It really doesn't get much better than this...

I suppose that only leaves one question to be asked.

'Which Uber designed Bafta awards ceremony ticket was better? The TV awards ticket or the film awards ticket?'

There's only one way to find out...

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

SPEAK YOUR BRAINS.

Our MD, Greg 'Man of a thousand voices' Clark has been speaking his brains with other selected guests on Radio 4's 'You and Yours' programme this week.

The current affairs programme held a discussion on advertising during a recession in which Greg and other agency folk nattered about the current economic dip and how it had effected clients.

We can also exclusively reveal that Greg will next be appearing on ITV's Loose Women reviewing hairdryers with Coleen Nolan.

Next stop Hollywood Greg. Listen to El Presidente speak here.

HE'S ONLY GONE AND DONE IT !

A huge wave of Uber love goes out to Tim and Di who got engaged at the weekend. We all hope you'll both be thoroughly happy together.

HOMER SIMPSON: 'Now what is a wedding? Well, Webster's Dictionary describes a wedding as: the process of removing weeds from one's garden.

SPAM FRITTERS

Martin has been out and about this week shooting some work for TDA with Simon and Simon. He told us he wanted to work with his intellectual equals so we fixed it for him to visit Chapel Allerton Primary School in Leeds where he dun some gud drawings and scored a rounder.

WOULD-YOU-LIKE-TO-PLAY-A-GAME?

10,500 views of the MK Deception TV ad, nearly 10,000 for The Club and nearly 9,000 for Deadly Alliance since uploaded a year ago! That's a lot of peeps!

SIMPLE. FUNNY.

TOP OF THE LEAGUE...WE'RE HAVING A LAUGH

Campaign Magazine’s Top 100 Agency School Report is out and we’ve climbed 2 places in the rankings to 27th.

Not only that, we’re No.1 outside London.

For some strange reason Campaign have chosen only to list DFS as a client so we’ll say it here and now, thank you to ALL our clients including Booths, TDA, Netto, BAFTA, Sega, Morphy Richards and of course DFS.

It goes without saying, bear hugs to all our staff for all the hard work.

27th in the league...we're having a laugh!

UBER ON THE RED CARPET

Refined. Sophisticated. Stylish. All words used to describe our ticket designs for the BAFTA awards.

Brolly. Rain shield. Shelter. Other words used to describe our ticket designs for the BAFTA awards.

No Ricky, you can’t patent the ticket/inclement weather shield design.

DID YOU KNOW?

And Uber will get through 1,900,756,002 cups of tea in a day.

THINK ABOUT IT.

R.I.P

THE MOTHER OF ALL NEWS FLASHES.

STOP THE PRESS!!! Katy has delivered the bestest of best news ever to us this morning. There's a nipper on the way! All our love and congratulations go to both Katy and Ali on their brilliant news.

They're all like this genius french kid Katy....honest.

She is recounting a story she has read to her mother.

DEAR SIR...

SECRET SQUIRREL.

Pssssst...

We don't want to jinx this....loose lips sink ships and all that....there's a recession on....so keep this to yourselves....Booths sales are up 4.1% for Christmas, Netto sales are up 4% for Christmas, Booths Burns night sales are up 61% on last year and MK vs DC sales have just broken 1.8 million sales.

Cough!....Uber.....Cough!

Shush your lips. This message will self destruct in 30 seconds.

Tuesday 20 January 2009

WOULD YOU LIKE SOME HELP PACKING?

Following a 3-way pitch, Netto chose us to tackle their first TV campaign in 9 years.

The campaign has been running over Christmas and Netto were so happy with the creative results (and an increase in sales over the crucial festival period) that we've now been asked to extend the campaign into 2009.

Congratulations to our very own team of shelf stackers Greg, Rich and Rob who supermarket swept all before them.

DARLINGS.

After being invited to take part in a 4-way pitch we've been appointed to work with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on a number of exciting design projects during 2009. The partnership has begun with a new and exciting look for the prestigious 2009 film awards tickets and outdoor advertising campaign.

The only drawback to come from working on this illustrious film event is Ricky the diva designer has now decided he needs his own trailer, complete with 27 bottles of mineral water, fresh Lilly's every day, a smorgasbord of organic health foods and the golden rule that nobody should look Ricky directly in the eye when conversing with him.

Break a leg Ricky.

Sunday 11 January 2009

BRUCE WAYNE: "DON'T DIP YOUR OAR IN THIS SORDID SEA, DICK. YOU MIGHT BE BESMIRCHED."

We've waved our Superhero scrapper out the door and into the Christmas shops. Packaging, press campaigns, in-store POS and outdoor media for MK v DC Universe, you name it, we've fought with it.

Richard Benjamin, Uber MD, said of the project, "Being somewhat of a closet geek myself, it's been an absolute pleasure to be in the company of Superman and friends over the last nine months."

Richard denies the opportunity to be Wonder Woman whenever the mood took him had anything to do with his enthusiasm for the project."

YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN US.

We've created Booths first ever TV advert to compliment their recently launched Christmas campaign. Accompanied by a re-recording of the 'Toy Story' theme tune by soul singer Jocelyn Brown the advert depicts a Booths family and follows their Christmas from store to home.

Uber Creative Director Mark said, 'We made a conscious decision to steer away from bashing people over the head with price messages or showing shot upon shot of food. the quality of Booths food and drink is beyond question. If a food retailer has survived Christmas for 161 years they must be pretty damn good at what they do.'

Booths account director Alan Baker said, 'I hope I get a Scalextric this year.'

COME IN RUBBER DUCKY...

We have been appointed by bathroom retail giants Bathstore to assist them with the launch of their new starter range.

Bathstore appointed Uber after a series of meetings and then challenged us to create an identity for the limited collection. Along side the name and identity, we have have created the newly launched 'My Price' brochure.

Rumours that we won the project because we looked like we needed a good wash are unfounded.
